A Canary Likes
• Another bird of the opposite sex
• A Large, rectangular cage and much free flying
• A spacious aviary
• Batching several times a day
• Treats, such as lots of greens, spray millet, fresh egg food
• Perches of natural branches that sway when a bird lands
• Perches high up in the room from which the canary can sing
• A bird tree
• Sunlight and fresh air
• Quiet surrounding
• Loving humans, a familiar voice
• Your not altering your appearance too much
• Becoming hand tame
• Classical music
• Fresh branches with buds or leaves

A Canary Doesn’t Like

• Being alone, because canaries want to communicate with others of their kind
• Confinement to a small cage, lack of exercise, no chance to fly free
• A non-sided diet without vitamins; spoiled egg food
• Poisons in the air (such as fumes from Telfon pans or cigarette smoke)
• Drafts
• Full sun without shade
• Dirty drinking water and inadequate hygiene
• Cats or other pets that might try to catch it
• Being grabbed or chased
• Major changes in surrounding
• Shocks and vibrations
• Noise
• Barking dogs
