10 House Rules

1- New canaries are always nervous and shy. Children should be introduced gradually to a canary and to taking care of it.

2- Children have to be taught to approach the bird quietly and gently, and not to touch it at first.

3- Place a little lock on the cage door so small children can’t open it.

4- Keep children quiet when the canary is flying free in the room.

5- Children should clean the canary’s cage only under adult supervision. The same rule applies when children are taking care of the bird’s food and drinking water.

6- Children are not allowed to hold the canary. It could have a heart attack.

7- Keep children toys a way from the canary. It might be frightened by them let the bird get used to the toys and everything else in the room gradually.

8- Make clear to children that even a canary needs its rest and privacy.

9- Always, explain to children the essential rules regarding proper care and management.

10 – Children quickly lose interest. Supervise them as they care from the bird realize that you might end up taking of it yourself.
