One of the things you must have when breeding canaries is egg-food.

Egg-food is to be offered to your pair of breeding canaries after their chicks have hatched.

Egg-food should be fed as an additional supplementation to their seed. This aides the parent canaries in feeding their young and remaining healthy themselves.

Egg Food Ingredients

Hard boiled egg
Carrot
Wheat Germ
Spirulina

Steps
1
hard boil the egg for 10-15 mins

2
Mash the boiled egg, with the shell on. The shell is an excellent source of calcium to your birds. Just be certain you mash it up really well.

3
Finely shred a small portion of carrot to mix into the egg mixture, no need for a large amount. Perhaps 1/2 of one small baby carrot. Baby carrots, which have a higher water content, are desirable. You can also use any kind of desirable vegetables to your birds like, broccoli, squash, cucumber, .....etc as a kind of change.

4
Add a little bit of both wheat germ and spirulina. Both of these are very nutritious and the spirulina has the added benefit of promoting good coloring in your birds. you can also add some sprouted seeds or soaked seeds. also you can add baby cereal with no water added.

5
Offer the egg food in a dish separate from that which your canaries' seed is in.

The egg spoil so fast, so make sure to offer it for 2-3 hours and then remove it.
You can prepare whats enough for a few days then store it in the refrigerator.

Hi Abu Suhaib, very nice subject !
This morning I was thinking about changing my egg food recipe by adding spirulina and using a new Wheat base mix instead of the toast and by coincidence I read your subject and found that you are using spirulina also! ;)
This is the first time I'll use it on birds. Do you have any advice that could help me especially about the quantity ?
Thanks.

First I would like to thank our handsome brother Abu Aljoud.
Dear Ahmed, Spirulina is a good ingredient with egg food and it serves as an antioxidant and help boost the immune system function.
My recommendation is one quart (1/4) tablespoon add them to four eggs.

Thank you for your kindness my friend Abu aljoud and Abu suhaib for the answer.
I knew spirulina as a food for aquarium fish but never thought to use it on birds in the past.
I'll try it this season and hope to get better results.

Good Luck Dear Ahmed and best wishes.
More Information about it: Spirulina has 62% amino acid content. It is the world's richest source of vitamin B12 and antioxidant beta-carotene (20 times that of carrots). It can double bird production especially in Canaries and Finches due to its effect on increasing fertility.
