Hi everybody ,

This topic was put in the arab forum by " Mohammed Reda " so , all his copyrights are reserved .

In this topic I'll talk about preparing birds for breeding . Birds are bought from a trustworthy source at the age of 4 months so they can complete their nutritional diet before they are ready to breed . Male birds are put in one aviary together and females in another one . The two aviaries are put in front of each other until birds get mature . It's very important to put into consideration the number and amount of meals per day .

At the beginning you might face some difficulties in feeding the bird as they used to get different diet at the previous owner . So by the time they will get used to the new diet and all you need is patience .

This is a list of meals that stimulates breeding :

- Fresh veggies ( cucumber – beet – sweet pepper – onions – carrot – tomato ) .

- Egg and biscuit mix .

- Wheat and lentils sprouts .

- Crushed corn and soybeans ( put a very little amount of soybean as it has a negative effect on the fertility of male cockatiels ) .

- Rocket ( watercress ) , lettuce , radish , clover and watermelons peels .

- Dry bread , toast and tea biscuit .

- Boiled beans .

- Raw pasta .

- Fruits ( banana – apple – pears – orange – mandarin – pomegranate – guava ) .

It's better to feed the birds these supplements at the morning and afternoon ( breakfast and dinner ) . For example the egg and biscuit meal can be put at 8 am and removed two hours later at 10 am , then after noon we put one of the above foods and it's better to be put two hours before sunset . The most important thing is to feed the birds different kinds of foods and keep the egg and biscuit mix for breakfast on the daily . Seeds ( millets – canary seeds – sunflower seeds ( little amounts recommended ) ) are the main diet and these meals are supplements .

Best wishes and good luck :)
